Jane went through a lot before her death. Do you think she had actually changed and was ready to leave her husband?

I would like to think so but I'm not sure how feasible it was for a woman to leave her husband back then. Would she lose her music students because of the stigma/scandal and, if so, then how would she support herself?

[Jonetta]

She seemed to have gathered some inner strength. I’m not sure how it would have manifested itself if she had lived but I think her relationship with her husband would have changed. After all, she was responsible for his livelihood.

[Joanna]

I'm not sure if she would have left him, but I do believe she would allowed herself love another.

[Jonetta]

I think so, too, Joanna.

Given the time period and her social class, I have my doubts. Women put up with a lot in those days for the supposed security of their marriages.

Good point, Lauren. We can’t apply a modern lens to her attitude.
