David | 18 comments I need help finding this book which was in the YA section of my library

1) I believe is part of a series.
2) My recollection is that I read it between 1980-1984. Any book published after 1987 is automatically disqualified.
3) I believe it was a book written or at least published contemporaneously to this date range as this was a time when books were moving to full color covers and I specifically remember this book being new, a full color cover and the library having multiple copies.
4) The book goes over counting crows. Not the band (which makes it impossible to get anywhere on google) but 1 is for ... and 2 is for ... and 3 is for ... I believe in the front of the book (inside cover) or very near the front it. I also recollect that this may have been built into the names of the chapters or the names of the books in the series themselves, but I am not absolutely certain of this.
5) For some reason but I cannot be certain, I believe they were counting ravens so in my mind I feel like this was a book that was set in England/Ireland (We had crows not ravens where I grew up)
6) The protagonist is a male.

Other than this I remember little to nothing. I feel like I read 2-3 of the books but don't remember any conclusion other than at the end of the book(s) I feel like the antagonist the main character is battling is put at bay...for the time being.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Lily Lundy | 4 comments I don't know if this helps, but here's a link to the poem. There are several versions, as it's an old one. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_for...

David | 18 comments Thanks for the reply. This is definitely the list (or close to it) that appeared in the book. I remember this was the first time I had ever heard that spotting multiple Crows/Ravens/Magpies had any meaning (other than a lot of cawking and white spots on clean cars) I was immediately intrigued by the "In popular culture" section and was hoping a reference may be made to the series of books I was looking for. Alas it didn't' pan out, but thanks to your post, if someone can point out these books, I am going to add it to this list on Wikipedia.

Duplicate thread deleted.

David | 18 comments It is not The Satanic Mill. I read the summary that the link points to, but thanks for taking the time to respond. I believe in this series of books may include Druids or Stonehenge or rituals where circles and or pentagrams are drawn in the ground with chalk (or some other material) and this can protect people from the spirits, but this last part may be me confusing two different books.

You can "bump" your thread every month or so. This pushes your thread back to the top of the folder instead of languishing here on page 173 where fewer eyes will see it. Get back in the game! Bump!
You can do this by typing a new comment at the end of the thread, or even by typing the word "bump."
Good luck!
