Jerichodeath Drakane | 2 comments The main character of the first book is a girl with red hair. She is a witch of some kind, with an innately high level of control when it comes to Fire Magic. At some point during the first book, all or most of the fingers of one of her hands are crushed by a torture device.
Later in the series, she finds out that she has a twin sister who grew up in a very different culture, involving keeping a fire going all the time in each home, I believe.

In the first book, another main character is a prince who has been turned into some sort of bird by that book's primary antagonist. The primary enemy of that book is a woman who sings very well, and she is able to turn anyone she doesn't like into any animal with very little effort.

Similarly, the main character of the series later finds out that she can turn herself into any animal that she wants to, including a dragon.

Dragons are the most powerful creatures in the series, and although they do not influence the story greatly, they have knowledge of all events, past, present, and future.

During the series conclusion, the original enemy, who eventually become and ally, is punished by having a choker permanently wrapped around her neck that is magically enchanted to prevent her from making any noise with her voice.

At some point, the main character is able to drink poisoned water by filtering out the poison with magic when the person they are drinking with isn't looking.

The series is decently long, and has been out for several years, at least.

Jerichodeath Drakane | 2 comments No world-transporting in this series, I'm afraid. The main character was born as a witch in the world, and she was brought up by a "wise old mentor" type woman, who happened to be one of the more powerful witches.

Autumn Francia | 66 comments Kate Forsyth, the Witches of Eileanon. I am almost positive; as im rereading them now in fact lol. (nto sure if i spelled Elleannon right though? ) something like that. that is the series tho. six books. the witch girl is a twin and got separated at birth from her sister. the main prince was turned into a bird by the banrigh and then back into part human. but she is trying to stomp out witchcraft and faerie creatures altogether. really good reads. didnt see them on here though to link.
