The Palace JobHeist book. Has a lot of ratings and is on alot of lists, but not on any I would check out.

Ah man I love this book! Read it when I was in college. It was indeed very dark.
Have you read all these books idiffer? I notice you've shelved a few as not-interested. Do you just think others would like them more than you? :)
Yeah, I only tried to read the last one I posted + spindle + palace job (dropped all of them). But I find 5 star reviews of the shittiest books, so someone is bound to like these ones.
A lot of these sound interesting especially the first one and I really hope the rape isn’t some wet dream or a common occurrence since I do like the idea of the role of women in a normal fantasy
Swords and Deviltry by Fritz LieberHe wrote fantasy too, even though he was better known for his sci fi. It's about two thieves doing thievery things and being sword and socery-y
Towing JehovahThe corpse of god is found on Earth.
Shitty book judging by some reviews, but still - original premise.
Smiler's Fairnot that high a rating on GR + only 750 ratings + synopsis isn't that original, but smth grabbed me and I read it.
has lots of twists + really grimdark for a woman author.
overall, an underrated fantasy series, even the multiple pov's read ok here.

This sounds weirdly intriguing... :)"
Right?
Just saw the list. I didn't expect that :OIt makes for a good reserve of reads for when I get tired of the usual fantasy settings :D
idiffer wrote: "SpindleA twist on the sleeping beauty I guess?"
Yes, it is meant to be a Sleeping Beauty re-write! Much like how the first book was a re-write of One Thousand and One Nights/The Arabian Nights.
Good IntentionsThe only fantasy erotica novel I've come across written by a man.
Pure wish fulfilment for nice guys
I liked the Daniel Black series by E. William Brown
Interesting magical system with Norse and Greek mythology thrown in. Also page turning plot.

This looks intriguing. I'll watch out for it.

You gotta be kidding! What a synopsis!!! I'm reading this.
TrickHas over a thousand ratings but is only on 2 lists, so I'll count that as obscure. Dunno why, but the synopsis grabbed me.
So I want to update this thread with some web fiction that is very undervoted on GR (as all web fiction is), but is nonetheless pretty good. Which means I've read these, and think they're interesting.Mother of Learning (this serial is ALMOST finished)
You can't copy the text from the source site, but there are up to date epubs floating around.
Heretical Edge (2-3k pages in, but nowhere near finished)
Text may be copied, no epubs found.
Twig (this serial is finished, thank god)
Text may be copied, at least partial epubs may be found.
PS. I think there are patreon accounts for all these, so you know, if you've got money to throw around... do it!
PPS.If you want to read any of these, but don't want the hassle of copying text for 30 min or searching for epubs, I've got fb2 for almost all the content listed in previous post. PM me.
The Whitefire Crossing. Really good book with barely 2k ratings. This book deserves to become more well known.
Aaaand one more web serialThe Gods are Bastards
This one is special cause the writing, plot and characters are all on the level of good traditionally published books.
The dialogue is often pretty funny, which high praise coming from me.
So I've been lost in an incredible original work on Ao3 called Worth the Candle. It's a LitRPG that is heavily influenced by home-brewed D&D campaigns, I'm over 100 chapters in and it's been simply incredible. The characters are complicated and challenging, and the entire story is wonderfully written. I couldn't find a way to support the writer monetarily, so I figured the least I could do is share his work with any interested people. A lot of the term's and concepts are unique to tabletop gaming and while the writer does a good job explaining them that's the one drawback I can see with this work.
