The LITA Forum presentation I'm attending is somewhat over my head, but one of the presenters is putting together a MOOC through San Jose State University called Blockchain for Information Professionals MOOC in March 2019. This might be something we consider as a group!

I should also mention that I asked the presenter what book we should read, and he said Blockchain Revolution. I still like the idea of the Attack of the 50 Foot Blockchain, but I'm curious why Blockchain Revolution is so lowly rated on GoodReads but recommended.
I'm definitely excited about this even more. SJSU is my Alma Mater from my MLIS studies; I am curious, is the presenter a professor? What is the presenter's name?
To be honest I suggested Blockchain Revolution because the synopsis of the book reminded me of what one of my professors was implying a few years ago about how libraries will have to jump on that boat sooner or later and also I wanted a better understanding of the subject aside from my personal research.
I'd really love to do a MOOC with you all :) And we are still a ways away so maybe by that point Anton will start entertaining himself. I'd would vote for either 50 Foot Blockchain or Blockchain Revolution.

Thanks for sharing Amy! Interesting, Holochain to me almost sounds like the online brokers/accountants/financial advisors that can code. Although bitcoin and block chain sound like "that will never take off" or "that's soo yesterday" what Trent talks about our corrupt capitalistic economy not being a thing digitally because of Holochain is a bit too optimistic. The powers at be allow companies like Facebook and Amazon to make money they way they do because it benefits them. Having a digital authority that will stop corrupt capitalist behavior is not possible because if anyone is going to make bank it's the elite that are heavily involved in global economy and politics (internationally). I think Holochain may work for regular law abiding people like us keeping up with the changes, but that anyone wouldn't take a advantage is hard believe.
Also I LOL'd at the end of Trent's article asking for bitcoin donation (after saying bitcoin is essentially a thing of the past).
If he was being sarcastic I found it to be ballsy, if he wasn't;I find that to be hysterical. I'm definitely going to follow Holochain and see what happens. Thanks for sharing!

I feel terrible that I have not kept it active! I lost some momentum for sure, at almost in direct proportion to my son's increased activity. This sounds great Amy and I might give it a try.
