Natalia | 30 comments Hi all

I'm looking for someone to do a chapter swap with. I have sent off my MG manuscript to a number of agencies in the UK already, but haven't got anywhere with it. So, I thought I'd go back to the drawing board and beta swap with someone at a similar stage to me. I'd like to swap the synopsis and first three chapters just to see a) if you'd read on; b) if there are any glaring errors; c) if there's anything particularly that you think could be improved upon; and d) anything else you might think of.

This is the blurb: When Hope Starkey receives a letter from her long-lost dad, she finds herself in a race against time and two very dangerous criminals, to find out where he is. With her two sidekicks, mute Edie and Playground Dweller Will, Hope runs away, lies, steals, and nearly kills someone. But will she find her dad, or is this all some huge joke at her expense?

The first three chapters come to 3900 words, so it's not too much of a project.

Thanks - please message me if interested.

Natalia

Judy Jordan | 6 comments Natalia, I would love to swap your first three chapters for mine. This is my first attempt at writing anything but a report and am wanting to know if I am anywhere close in developing a suitable approach to novel writing.
I am writing a historical fiction about Cole Younger who, at sixteen, was thrust into the worst of the Civil War's devastation. He and his brothers lost everything to political and military opportunists--their family, their home, and their inheritance to one of the wealthiest estates in the Kansas City area. They became known as the Younger gang, associated with the James gang. My book takes Cole from a fun loving boy to a killer who struggles with the ideals he was taught by his parents.

I would say my three chapters are around 3500 words. I hope to hear from you.

Judy
