I can't remember this for the life of me. This female journalist has to go back to her home town to investigate a series of murders/child abductions, but more to the point, she has to face her controlling mother and her 13 year old sister. She has a problem with self mutilation and cuts words all over her body, so much so that she has to hide under layers of clothes and only a tiny portion of her back has never been scarred. She has a potential relationship with the detective working the case; her sister is catty and childish and loves dollhouses; her mother is the heiress to a chicken processing plant. The cover of the book is solid black with a razor blade in the center of it. I remember the book pretty darn well, except for the name and the author!!
