Amy Osborn | 17 comments I had a picture in my head through the first descriptions and stories, but in BOSAA DG's descriptions started to disagree with my perfect little imagined house. Have any of you seen a floorplan or drawing online anywhere or have you done one yourself?

The first floor has the kitchen, surgery and Jamie's study...anything else? Does the kitchen take up the entire back of the house?

I'm obsessing!

Thanks!

Teryl No, I think you are right on that, except isn't there a small living room on the first floor also? I'm pretty sure the surgery is in the front of the house, but for some reason I always picture it in the back and can't get my mind to flip, lol

Leslie (les2car) | 131 comments I always picture it with the surgery and the study in the front with a foyer in the middle and a living room with a fireplace and a kitchen in the back. I always picture a big kitchen table between the kitchen and living room.

Renee (nightbird) | 334 comments I can never get a really clear picture in my mind of the house. But I think there's a common room with fireplace and the kitchen is directly across from that, then Claire's surgery, then Jamie's study(because they close the door between the surgery and study when Fergus and Marsali are 'helping' the baby along. Then a hall to the upstairs? Cause Ian comes into the study from somewhere, hears the goings on in the surgery and leaves the room. I dunno where he came from. Then there's the summer kitchen.

I've been trying to get the layout straight in my head for a while too. But, alas, it doesn't matter now. :(

Renee (nightbird) | 334 comments OR Jamie's study could come first as you enter the house. Ian could have been coming from the front of the house and got to the study first.

Okay, now I'm obsessing!

Leslie,
Your description is exactly what I have in my head! For the longest time, for some crazy reason, I kept picturing the study on the 2ond level....

It always seems like everyone gathers in the space between surgery and the study. I guess it sort of like an entryway or foyer that leads into the living room and kitchen. For some reason in my head the surgery is on the left and the study is on the right. I don't know why, I don't think DG was ever that specific about the placement of the rooms.

Amy Osborn | 17 comments It sounds like we all have similar things in mind. Whew! Thanks everyone! Like Teryl, though, I got a picture in mind and couldn't flip it.

The kitchen/living room was hard for me to picture, because I had all sorts of furniture way too close to the fire and in the way of the cooking. This helped. I found this picture of a colonial era kitchen online, it's from the Governor's palace in Williamsburg, so we have to assume everything is fancier, but a good idea:

There is a perfect kitchen in this video, but I don't know how to add a screenshot here. It's an interesting video overall, though. http://letmeseethat.com/mountclare/we...

:) I got a little carried away.

Amy,
That was great! Thanks for sharing!

Wendy | 259 comments In my mind the Surgery is in the back of the house with the window toward the south. The kitchen/living area is definately one room, and in the back as well. Jamies study is in the front close to the front door. With the stairs leading upstairs across from the study. I'm not sure that my layout would accually work in real life. Everything can't be in the back of the house.
