Melaslithos | 1360 comments #902 I thought "Shree" at least was a honorific, and that those shouldn't appear in author's name? This is why I changed all the names. Maybe someone more used to Indian culture can comment on that?

#903 Sorry, I didn't noticed the change in policy. You should ask GR staff through the "Contact Us" link to merge the profile for you, as per the first message in the thread
https://www.goodreads.com/about/conta...

edit: I went and checked, "Shree" or "Sri" is indeed an honorific:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sri
According to the Librarian Manuals, honorifics are to be used only if the autor is primarily known by it, which doesn't seem to be the case here.
I'll admit though that I went a bit quickly and thought "Paramhans" was also part of the title, but I can't find much about this... I think it means something like "sadguru", but I'm not quite sure? Can anyone else comment on this?

Okay let me try to explain how it is. Shree or Swami is a given name or honour as a respect. These words are not translated in English. If you try to find their original name, you will find it quite different because they change their name as in they have found new purpose of life to make world better and they leave their previous life or name. This is why it is quite difficult to explain to others. These things is common in India or Hinduism.

Even Sadhguru name is given to him as a respect or with love. If you look at his real name, you will find it different. But all his books are published in the name of "Sadhguru". Even there is an official goodreads author account in his name.

This is the official link of his account.
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

And this one is not official one.
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

I was hoping someone will shift books to his official one. It will make reader friendly when we look for his books.

Its really sad to see so many profiles in same name. That's why i am trying to make it single author so it will make goodreads better.

Thanks for this explanation. So I think we agree on this, all the books should be under Swami Adgadanand? And Shree Paramhans Swami Adgadanandji should be merge into the previous one? I'll still let Lachgas chip in if he/her comes back over here, since there seems to be a disagreement here.

Anyways, as mentionned previously, for anyone who is a Goodreads author, you should ask staff for help, librarians cannot merge the profiles. (That goes for Sadguru/Sadhguru too).
