Kunthipuram Sridhar The Ending: The cunning ghost (which has become devil by the last chapter) of Jane was hiding all along in Jennifer and returns with the plan to finish off all the assembled in the house starting with Emily.
The author seems to have a thing against Jesus/God. At the same time the author seems to overawed by the all powerful nature of the ghost/devil.
I would have scripted an ending like follows: God/Ghost are but thoughts in the mind. Jennifer has two minds within her, hers and Jane's. At the final moment when she has to kill her most beloved Emily-an innocent child, her total helplessness makes whatever part of her mind left with her to snap and go into total SURRENDER mode. Her mind completely and unconditionally giving up all resistance (the kind she had to GOD) submits to her CONSCIOUSNESS involuntarily as a matter of non-choice, not even capable of thinking of it as a plan to beat Jane. In the moment of total Surrender, she transcends both her and Jane's mind both of which are dissolved in the
effulgence of the CONSCIOUSNESS leaving only Total Awareness. She is truly and finally free of Jane.
