We are happy to let you know that there is now additional logging of various types of librarian edits:

On author profiles, edits to the sort-by name and shelf-display name are now logged.

On book page logs, in the work section (on the far right), you will now find edits to:
* awards
* places
* characters
* series

There has also been additional detail added to series page logs.

Renske | 12222 comments I see an issue with one part of the recent changes. It seems the change log on the author profile is now logging far more edits made on the books than was done before. As those are already in the change log of each work, I don't understand why this done. But if this is needed, could there be some way to see only the edits for the profile information? Maybe in the same way you can select in the change log of a work 'all editions' or 'this edition'.

Elizabeth (Alaska) Thanks for this. I missed this announcement, but noticed the awards in the log today, and was very glad to see them.

Renske - yes, the author logs have been cluttered badly for some time.

That is not a recent change. That change was made some time ago, and helps capture edits to works, even if the works are then deleted.

annob [on hiatus] (annob) | 4048 comments I'm very happy to see the series edits in the changelog of the book details.

But I've started to make observations (which hopefully I'm in the wrong about) but I think the logging of edits to 'Original Publication Date' for the Work Setting is no longer stored in the changelog since this change. I've come across books where the changes are simply not visible in the log (righthand side of the log), which makes it a bit tricky to offer examples with certainty.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4...

Here's a newly added book, where on the edit page you can see it has values entered in the Original Pub Date fields for the work in total, but in the changelog only the change to the series page is visible.

At times I've found great value in seing the previous edits to dates in the work setting part of the log (helps to identify and restore incorrect changes), so I hope I'm either wrong or it's an easy fix to bring back.

The log has only ever shown changes. If the original pub date was added with the initial addition of the work, it won't be logged -- and that is not a change.

Changes to the work's pub date are still being logged. I just used that record as a test.

annob [on hiatus] (annob) | 4048 comments Thanks for being able to test so quickly. Good to know I was in the wrong, and that the changelog store work settings data as intended.
