The friends are all teenage boys. Instead of getting a job, they instead go look for a treasure of some sort. They end up finding that the treasure was inside the monopoly figurine (i think the treasure was an old coin that was worth a lot-but i don't remember). Their fortune cookies end up happening. The boys have a garage or something of the sort, where they hang out. I think that in the book, they end up selling some of their stuff from their hangout, so they could fool their parents that they are indeed working.
