I am over half way through reading Assassin's Apprentice to my son. Better than I remembered (if possible).Finished Borne which was yet another book about survival in a dystopian future and barely qualified as SF. Not the best example fo the genre.
(view spoiler)
Also finished The Book of M. Had a rough start as the book was advertised as SF and was yet another dystopian future. Turned out to be fantasy set in the future (or magic realism). Not bad but too too long to get going.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Started Slouching Towards Bethlehem as essay book #3. Finished the first essay about a true crime from the 60s and it was excellent.
I'm in the midst of The Labyrinth Index: A Laundry Files Novel. Charles Stross seldom disappoints. Enjoying this one so far.

Just finished The Calculating Stars a really good read, It is the best Sci-fi book I've read this year. Made me think about the period of time it was vs. my experiences as a next generation in the 50's. Already have the next two in the series (tbr). Books keep backing up, first I'm reading Holes, i'm trying to show my granddaughter the joys of reading by reading one she is for school, so we can talk about it. So far I'm not happy with the book, I keep hearing Dara and Ruth in my ear "a girl having to read a very male book", i would have to agree. so far its a dark story.

Looked at the reviews, grabbed the first book (Age of Assassins) and liked it a lot. If anyone is on the fence - it' quite well done and $1.99 so... take a chance.
