November 2018 Value Read - The Body in the Dales, by J.R. Ellis

My worry is that I will pick a dud for a group read and while this one didn't fall into that category, it certainly wasn't far off.

I had the "how" question figured out early on and yet the detectives took 3/4 of the book to figure it out?

I don't think the author gave me much of a sense of either the characters or the setting. I had high hopes for the Chief Inspector, based on Carters first introduction to him, but that was quickly extinguished.

I gave it two stars because it did keep me reading to the end, and the plot had potential just not under the pen of this author. And there was enough there that I thought maybe his writing got better after book one. Sadly, after getting 3/4 way through book two, I assigned it one star
