Poll #8 - Close Call

Because I'm a sucker for lists, I'm including almost all of the list suggestions on my rejects challenge. I've read over half of the 2018 Lariat list, so I'm looking for suggestions for what I should read for this prompt! (Only the 2018 list is up on the official website, so I searched around to get more recent years.)

Edie | 1148 comments If you haven't read them, I'd highly recommend A Gentleman in Moscow or Homegoing from the 2017 list and Before We Were Yours or Lincoln in the Bardo from 2016. I didn't like Exit West and My Name is Lucy Barton... which was, IMO, nowhere near as good as Olive Kitteridge

dalex (912dalex) | 2646 comments Here is a link to the 2015 list .

I've read some books from these lists but not very many. They are primarily more in that category of "popular fiction/NYT bestsellers" which I really don't read a lot. I do have the prompt on my rejects list, though, and plan to read Sorcerer to the Crown.

Kathy E | 3334 comments I highly recommend News of the World and Good Morning, Midnight from the 2017 list. I also agree with Edie's recommendations above. Plus, I did like Exit West and thought it was excellent.

dalex, it looks like there is some overlap between the 2015 list you posted and the 2016 list. I think the link you posted is a mashup of the two.

Looking at all of the lists, I've read a lot of these books, but I feel like I read most of the ones I'm interested in reading.

The ones I am thinking about using for my challenge are:

Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate
Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz
The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins
Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff
A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles

The Library at Mount Char was actually the book I was thinking about reading for the ATY Lesser Known books prompt!

Serendipity | 441 comments So many good choices here. I loved A Gentleman In Moscow and Before We Were Yours . Beartown was another 5 star read. Several others are on my TBR or about to be added. But, if I can get hold of a copy, I'll probably go with The Atlas Of Forgotten Places since it is set in Uganda, a country I can't recall reading about before.
