Complicated Contradiction | 10 comments A female true crime reporter writes about the murder of a reverend's wife. The reverend who is against the death penalty is arrested because he is suspected of having an affair with another woman. But the real murderer is the woman's husband. The dead wife and the murderer knew each other and were criminals. The true crime reporter was dating an attorney.

Is it fiction?
Or true crime?
When did you read it, or when was it published?
Cover?
Where and when is it set?

Complicated Contradiction | 10 comments Its fiction about a true crime writer. I read it around 4-5 years ago. It's set in America, Florida I think. I don't remember the cover sorry.

Added a spoiler alert to the header.

How does the wife appear to have died?

Not a romantic suspense? Is a detective/P.I. featured in the story? A single murder not a serial killer?

What is the story's time period and location - country, region, big city/small town?

Ring of Truth by Nancy Pickard seems to match your description.

"Sex, violence, evil, and betrayal -- the shocking murder case splashed across the Florida headlines has all the right elements for true-crime writer Marie Lightfoot's next bestseller. And tell the tale she does, in a book that reveals the secrets of a love affair gone fatally wrong. But there are disturbing twists, which leave Marie sensing in her gut that something does not jibe.
Twist number one: the accused is a man of the cloth, who has allegedly killed his wife in collusion with his lover. Twist number two: a pair of young girls find the body in an abandoned mansion, adding the death of innocence to the magnitude of the crime. Twist number three: a shattering conviction turns the case on its ear..."
