but they seem to be from different series, aren't they? Actually, the Willy Dahl series seems to be a parallel one to this one.

You could say the volumes 6-8 of the latest edition replaces volume 6 of the first editions.

You..."Ok, done

It's one thing if it's the same content, expanded, it's another if it's been separated into 3 books. Is it even the same content?

I'd say it's still the same series, but others may differ in their opinion on that. The publisher considers it the same series.
What would be in the best interest of GR users in the way of presenting this development? Or not representing it by divorcing the 6-volume editions from the 8-volume edition?

Also, I don't know Norwegian, so no need to get snarky, since I was responding based on your own assertion that "volumes 6-8 of the latest edition replaces volume 6 of the first editions".
My suggestion would be: if the content of the 6th volumes is the same or reasonably similar so as to just be considered an expansion on the same content, the series is fine as is, with, perhaps, a note about the expansion from 6 to 8 books.
If different, I would suggest separating the differing 6th volumes (only the 6th) and creating a 2nd series including only the original 6. Keep this one as the "expanded" series and have it primary on the appropriate books.

The old volume 6 is completely removed from the later series. The later volume 6 (of the 8-volume series) is written by new authors.

Then, just to be completely clear, the first 5 volumes for both series contain the same content, then the 6th volumes are completely different. Correct?

What do you think? Also, is the editor correctly identified for all of these?

is the editor correctly identified for all of these?
Yes. except that his dual role of series editor and sole contributor doesn't appear clearly for volume 3.
