the house on tradd street
I don't know if this is "really good" but I found the excerpts I read funny and clever. I know some of you like fairy-tale-related reading so am posting here this spoof of fairy tropes with a heavy does of social satire: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4...
Now that looks cute. I checked Amazon and they haven't posted a Kindle version yet. I'll keep an eye on that one. Thanks for the heads up.
I thought of you when I saw it, Jeanne! The author is British (I saw it in a British Goodreads group) so it may take a while to come to U.S. Amazon. You might take a look at U.K. Amazon.
Thank you, Abigail. I'll wait for the US posting. I have a lot on my plate right now so waiting is no problem. I'm having cataract surgery on Friday and a second one next Wednesday, so I don't know how well I will be seeing the next few days one-eyed. Hopefully, I will adjust. Thanks again for thinking of me.
Good luck with the surgeries! Another friend of mine is having her second cataract surgery today; the first was very successful, and she's so eager to get back to her artwork. I hope the same for you. Remember to avoid bending over while recovering!
Will you be cooking Thanksgiving dinner with one eye?Hope your surgeries go well. Everyone I know who has had it done has benefited a lot without much problem healing.
Thanks, Abigail. oh, didn't know about bending over. Hmmm, guess they'll tell me that on Friday. I did know to not p/up anything heavier than a gallon of milk and I can't drive the next day. My brother is taking me because hubby isn't driving yet. He will have a treatment the day before and won't feel like taking me anywhere. Thanks, Mary, Chelsea, Shelley, and wose. Since my 2nd surgery is on Wednesday before Thanksgiving, I will be doing light cooking with my new eyes. Snicker. This year we will skip Thanksgiving and will probably eat light. We haven't cooked at home in years. We had been going out. But, we are content to stay at home and rest. With hubby's chemo treatments, he doesn't feel like going out. Plus, he is still on a walker. Yeah, we are a mess right now but we are in good spirits.
Thanks for your concern and prayers. I appreciate you guys. It has been nice to have a place to just chill when I feel things closing in. You all rock.

Thanks, Chelsea. Unfortunately, I'm not into audio yet. I'll make do even if I have to close one eye to do it. It will be a new experience. I'll let y'all know what happens.

At least with eBooks you can make the font really big to help. Just don't push yourself and over strain your eyes while they are healing.
Best wishes for Friday and next Wednesday, Jeanne. Take it easy and relax. Well, as much as you can under your current circumstances. We'll be thinking about you xxx
Thanks, Chelsea and Anji. As my right eyesight deteriorated over this last year, it has been hard seeing clearly. I was surprised at how quickly my eyesight changed. Out of 4 on the scale, both eyes were at 3.5 and yet I could see more clearly out of my left eye. The right one was like having a dirty lens [which I suppose it is] and I kept wanting to take off my glasses and clean them. Only I wasn't wearing glasses. Soon, very soon it will all be over. Thanks for your support, prayers, and best wishes.

My mother had them done at one time and didn't know herself afterwards. Said it was marvelous to be able to see clearly again. Will be thinking of you with everything else you have on your plate.
Thanks, Michelle. I missed your comment. I probably didn't see it. **snicker** I appreciate the prayers.Teresa, I am afraid of what I will see when this is over. All those dust bunnies that have hidden in plain sight will now be visible. I'll have to go on a cleaning spree. Later! When I can bend over. LOL!!
You guys are hilarious.

Oh screw the dust bunnies. I'm getting new lenses, they are on order. Some new thing available. No, insurance doesn't cover them. All out of pocket. Happy Christmas to me. But I'm so sooo hopeful this will solve this ongoing, progressively worse business with my left eye. If these work, I'll be such a happy camper. I'm not a lazer surgery candidate, don't have cataracts. It's just a vision focusing issue.
So, I'm really anxious to hear how your surgeries went, and yes, I got you in my prayers.
J. W. wrote: "$2.99 deal for those that follow Diana Gabaldon: seven spellbinding stories: a collection of Outlander fiction: Thanks Jeanne. I had to go check, I already own it. Just have to go read it. Actually, only two are new to me, but having the novellas all in one place is great, since they were originally (except the new ones) published in other non-Outlander anthologies. And when those were first published they were available in paperback, which I just cannot tolerate anymore. Drat it.
I've heard of those lenses. I got just the plain old lens. I did fine with my right eye. I see now why they don't want you to drive. They gave me this little pill to dissolve under my tongue. After that, I didn't care what they did. It was such a nice buzz. I was completely relaxed. Of course, I was drunk as a skunk when I tried to walk a straight line. My vision is slowly trying to focus. I'm having to use drops 4-times a day for 7 days then twice a day for 20 more. I get the other one done on Wednesday.
I'm having a hard time typing as I hit the wrong keys. I keep walking into things as my dept perception is off. I am still wearing my glasses so I can see out of my left eye. I can't wear contacts several days prior to surgery. It has been hilarious.
Oh, don't try to use scissors during the transition. It can be dangerous. Also, trying to put the cap on a pen has been hilarious. I'll be curious as to what my vision is after they have finished with me. Blessings on your surgery.
Thanks, everyone for your thoughts and prayers. Y'all are the best.
