On the up-side, when I get caught up on e-mail (meaning that I addressed anything dated within the last 24 hours), I've been working on a book review. And I've got one to share! This is a story set in 1814, and includes British and American characters.
My review of The Liberty Bride

Marlene wrote: "I've decided to stop reading reviews for a while. I've reduced my free time by an hour per day, and in trying to maintain reading nearly all my friends' reviews, I haven't been able to keep up with..."
Yes, completely understandable about how you need to guard your time. I like your compromise plan. Very considerate of you to share why you are a little less present on GR for reviews. :)

Exactly, Abagail and Sophia! Thanks all for your understanding and support! It's not the way I WANT to do things, but what I need to do for now. My husband is also taking a break from some of his down time for a few months. They're supposed to break ground next month, and we have a lot of work to do to get our rooms cleaned out, while still doing the work we usually need to do to keep things running!

I've been doing the same, Marlene. Made a conscious decision to dial back both my GoodReads and my reading time in order to spend more of my time in RL.

Thanks Debbie. I already had Envelope (yet to read it) and just grabbed Direction, as it's selling at 99p over here.

I sympathize with you. The time I have left is mostly being spent reading and replying to e-mails. Ugh. It's temporary, as I don't feel that reading e-mails is TRUE relaxation. @ @
As Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven." I've accepted what I need to do for now, but am looking forward to the next season when I can slow down a bit. :-)

There's a rather delightful Instagram account that is nothing but photos of books with meals depicted in the books, and the Austen ones tend to be quite simple (but charming), like this one:
