Was it just me or did it feel like Tris and Four in the movie didn't have a good connection

Esther I mean in the movie i was following along and then suddenly she's in his room with his shirt off? I mean i think it happened too fast. Not to mention they got rid of my favourite bit: Usually guys would like being in close quarters with a girl, Not claustrophobic people TRIS!.

Violet That particular scene is crucial, for both Tris and Tobias, because it showcases a level of trust and intimacy, which neither of them have ever given freely. It's also a culmination of sorts to all the intrigue, unpredictability and straying moments of dubiously dark or kind deeds.
I thought they had chemistry with that growing intensity, and given the time limit, I was quite impressed with the fluidity of their relationship. It did n't feel overly rushed to me.

Dreamless I think that they had pretty nice chemistry considering they had met filming this movie. I think that they'd have better connection and chemistry filming Insurgent but i really loved this movie :)

Lev I thought the film was really good but after I saw it for the third time the whole romance aspect seemed like it came out of no where in the film. It felt more like some weird side plot just to make more money because they never actually built it up so it made sense. Of course in the novel it makes perfect sense and built up so you know its happening but when watching the film like I said it feels like it comes out of nowhere. But it can be a lot worse so I'm fine with it.

Krishop Thank you!!!!!!!! I totally agree with the original post. Tris was too tall, Four was too old and there was no emotional build up to their relationship. It was like awkward touches and stares and then they kiss once. (Although I did really like the handholding scene.) But I think the movie got the book all wrong. They took the basic idea, the skeleton, and went with that. They totally got rid of the amazing morals and deeper concepts and cute romantic parts. Like Four's fear landscape!! What was with that? It wasn't supposed to instruct her, it was supposed to show her who he was. And the fact that Tris says 'I love you' and Four doesn't was HORRIBLE!!! That was a huge thing in the book, and it spoke so much about Tris, how she was raised, how much she can't trust what she knows she's feeling, or can't trust someone else with such personal emotions, or doesn't know what she's feeling. (*possibly a spoiler, stop reading if you haven't read Insurgent) And it also said so much about their relationship that she finally said 'I love you' after coming back from Jeanine. It said so much about her new views on life, and trust and family and how much she loved Tobias. The movie really upset me with the relationship especially.

NL Why am I not surprised that you like Tfios

Mariah Okay I think some of the things that are discussed here couldn't be helped. This is a movie so things on screen need to be told differently. I liked they changed the fear landscapes so that Four is instructing Tris. It explains why being Divergent is so dangerous and how to put that under control so Tris won't be hunted.

Things need to change for the movie so it pleases all fans not just fans of the books.

Anna-Donnis (Ƥяσ-Яɛα∂ɛя;-p) In the movie they were just in love, they didn't build up to it and it happened way too fast and when they are in fours fear scape I didn't like what they changed it to.

Mariah I mean I feel like that's going to happen when it's turned into a movie. I mean they only have two hours maybe two and a half to tell a story. Things are going to get cut and relationships will be rushed.

Hannah Kelly I thought the chemistry was great! It felt like a solid relationship built on trust and not some casual fling like twilight.

Dennis John I didn't feel any chemistry at all.

But it's ok. i like hunger games and can't see any chemistry between peetah and katniss

kei Ada I really liked the books ... of course I did, or else why am I here. I liked the movie, but was somewhat disappointed by it. I agree, there was almost zero chemistry between Tris and Four. Though I really don't have a problem with Shailene Woodley as Tris. Nor did I have a 'real' problem with Theo James as Four; though I thought he should have been 'beefier' ... more like Channing Tatum. I thought Tris was portrayed in the book as so much stronger and braver than she was depicted in the movie ... actually I thought she was kinda 'wimpy'. In 'Divergent' she kicked butt several times on the fighting mats, but was always destroyed in the fight scenes in the movie. Perhaps I'm off topic, but aren't there scenes in the movie that have been deleted on the DVD? For example ... when the initiates were jumping off the train for the first time ... didn't one of the initiates not make it? That's what I remember, but it's not on the DVD. Am I hallucinating!!!??? (There are other missing scenes.)

No you are correct :). I definitely agree with what you've said. I mean the books were so amazing, who didn't like them? And many of the scenes in the books have been tweaked which you do need to do in a movie but was it over done and too far from what the book's like?

DragonTears I agree with you I don't think the connection between them in the movie was anything like it was in the book . The movie was actually a disappointment for me .

I agree, I felt that Tris and Four's relationship in the movie came out of nowhere, where as their relationship in the book felt real and smooth you could feel the relationship growing.
I was disappointed in the movie when I saw it. I had just finished the book and was super excited to see it. The entire movie felt rushed to me.
But because I like the book so much I think I'm gonna get the movie.
Maybe it'll grow on me.
Theo James is a plus! lol

DragonTears Theo James the only upside to the movie LOL!!

Lauren I feel that they halfway had chemistry. Their chemistry wasn't great, but the acting otherwise was good

Mattie I don't think Theo James should have been 'beefier'.Tobias is supposed to be lean, lithe, and agile.Theo and Shai have amazing chemistry, but the kissing scene didn't work out well.
