Kingdom of the Blind question

Hello everyone, I love Louise Penny for a particular quality in her writing, something I have to call "spiritual" for want of a better description. I've read it described by another reader as "morality" but it goes further than that for me. The character who only uses dead wood to make furniture, for example, because he can hear the pain of cut trees - just a deep appreciation of living beings, human and non-human as well as the way she depicts the power of gentleness and love. Do you know other authors who have this quality to their writing?
