Ch 23 (26%) - (view spoiler)[ Geez, this Diggory guy is a little scary - obviously the villain, I just can't quite figure out what he wants with Maggie. Actually, I'm still having a hard time figuring out how all these characters fit together. (hide spoiler)]
Ch 45 (50%) - (view spoiler)[ What the heck is going on? Just when I get into the treasure hunt, we have to start talking about conspiracy shit. For all her reluctance to believe Cole about it, Maggie sure does know a lot about these Bonesmen. And Maggie said she was there 20 years ago, that's a bit of a coincidence isn't it? (hide spoiler)]
Ch 66 (72%) - (view spoiler)[ Diggory is relentless! I'm having a hard time reconciling Maggie's version of her father with Diggory's. They just don't seem to be able to be the same man. Also, I wasn't really paying attention to Maggie talking to herself before - but now there is an actual ghost of her brother warning her and stuff. Could this book get any weirder? I mean, I like it, but there is a lot going on. (hide spoiler)]
Finished - (view spoiler)[ Whew, mixed feelings about this book. I enjoyed the treasure hunt, and will admit that the conspiracy stuff was an unexpected twist though it was confusing at times. I also liked the little bit of romance between Cole and Maggie and didn't mind the evil ex-boyfriend angle. I did think adding the ghost of the brother was a little much - I'm not sure if that was the tipping point for me or what, but I felt like the author just had too much going on that it was hard to focus. Then you add in the faked death at the end, and no body for Diggory, and I can already see where book 2 is headed. I just HOPE that it is a little simpler in the telling. I don't know, am I being too particular?? Am I dumb for wanting a cleaner/more simplistic story? (hide spoiler)]
