Karen I'm here and will be stopping for lunch soon so I'm going to start because I have no doubt that you'll both catch up to me.

Simone - on indefinite hiatus - I'm here too, so if Josy is ready we could start as well. :)

Josy I'm still eating but we can start :)

I just need to get out the tissues first because Big Eddie 💔😥

Josy And I need to stare at this beautiful cover some more... God, it's awesome!!

Umm, sorry, you surely mentioned it before, but who's Big Eddie???

Josy Have you read Into This River I Drown by T.J. Klune ? This book plays in the same town / area but years earlier and Big Eddie is Benji's father from River. Such a sad, sad book. Anyway, as far as I know, both books aren't otherwise connected, though. Just that it's the same town and Big Eddie and Benji are mentioned.

Ahhh, okay! No, I haven't read it yet, but I already wondered when I saw a post of TJ where he said he would be back in Roseland with this book. :)

Simone - on indefinite hiatus - At least we know that it's March 31, 1995 at the beginning of the book. I did a quick research on this singer because I didn't know her either. I only know Selena Gomez and as far as I know she's still alive. LOL

EDIT: okay, the date is mentioned on the next page. I should be more patient, I guess. LOL

message 14: by Josy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Josy I don't know her either but I'm too impatient to read the book, lol! Maybe I'll look her up later.

It still didn't ring a bell. LOL.

Karen Oh my god! Into this River freaking broke me! But I hardcore loved it! And sadly I don't remember her music but I do remember the tragedy of her death. Actually i think my son was familiar with her music.

Simone - on indefinite hiatus - Ah, and there's the name Big Eddie... :)

I didn't came far enough to check her songs. LOL. I have to do it later and maybe I know some of them, too, just not her name. :)

Me, too, Karen!! One of my favorite books to date and I was sobbing and crying so hard!
I was 11 at the time so no, I don't think I know her but I will look her up later :)

No worries, I'm not that much ahead of you, but it sounds like it was not the loving parent/child relationship I thought it was. :(

I already love Big Eddie, so I think I will need the industrial sized box of tissues when I listen to this book. :(

message 37: by Josy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Josy Stupid to notice this but I think that's the first time I've seen the word 'blinker' in a book, lol!

FYI Karen, it's the same word in German and that's why it caught my eye.

Okay, I should probably rent a truck for my shopping, then. ;-) I guess, piles of chocolate will be required, too. LOL

But surely not by much :)
Nate isn't at the cabin yet. I'm just reading a flashback to his conversation with his attorney.

YAY for hubby for letting you read :)

message 43: by Karen (new) - added it

Karen Throw in a teddy bear to hug & copious amounts of alcohol and you're good to go.

I'm a tiny bit behind you :)

By the way, aren't you on the road yet? I thought you were going home today?

message 48: by Karen (new) - added it

Karen We are. I've been travelling for the past 6 hours and we have about 3 more to go.

message 49: by Josy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Josy "Maybe that's why he'd come back here. To be alone."

Oops 😅

Simone - on indefinite hiatus - Oh hey, I've read some Louis L'Amour Westerns when I was a kid. LOL
