Is published book required to join GR author program?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place--I wasn't sure where to put it.

I know a new author who's trying to claim her GR author page. After she clicked on the appropriate link, she got the 'Are you ________, author of the books below?' page. Her book has been set up on GR, so it's listed.

But, then on the list of what she has to do, it says:

'to claim your profile to promote your work, please provide the following information: link to a publisher site such as Amazon, CreateSpace, Smashwords, etc. that confirms your book(s) have been or will be published.'

She's not ready to publish or put it up for preorder. So does this mean she can't join the GR author program yet?

Librarians have no control over approvals of Goodreads Author status. If you are having a problem with yours (or someone else is), you (or they) will need to use the Contact Us link on the Help page.
