I'm really liking this book. Did you read The Loney? I just love how the place/environment is like a secondary character.
No, The Loney's on my TBR along with about..ooohhh..a thousand other books! I'm on page 30, enjoying his writing so far.
The Loney really creeped me out lol. This book is too, but he kind of sneaks the creepiness in there.
Random comment: It threw me off in the first few pages when he wasn't using punctuation for the dialogue!

I just finished Ghost Storyby Peter Straub and it's a very slow burn with some super sneaky-creepy. My next read for Halloween is
and I'm completely creeped out just by the cover!Random comment: It threw me off in the first few pages when he wasn't using punctuation for..."
Ha! Have you ever read Child 44 NO speech marks at all.
Lol, I have not read that yet .I did read a book called Dog Stars which also didn't use any punctuation for dialogue. It was weird at first but by the end of the book I was used to it lol
Ohhh and i LOVED ghost story when I read it! it really scared me.the croning is on my TBR shelf, i gotta read it.
100 pages in and I'm hoping something's going to happen soon, so far the writing's great but it's just a history lesson!
Page 190, finally getting a bit more intrigue, but I'm thinking it's going to be one of those books where we're left wondering at the end if it really is the devil, or just devilish humans....? How are you going with it?
That's what I'm wondering too... I really hope there is a payoff at the end. I'm gonna pick the book back up today. I didn't do much reading at all this weekend unfortunately :(

I'm finally starting to enjoy it and feel a few creepy vibes. Have you go to the part about the night before The Gathering where they call the 'Owd Feller' down from the moors?
I finished this tonight. Not quite sure how I'm going to rate it yet, it's probably a solid 3.5 from me, let me know when you're done :)
ok i'm back to reading it! i'll probably finish tonight or tomorrow AM.i just got past the part where Kat was doing that dance the night before the gathering and she freaks out because she sees something on Grace (a pig mask?) but no one else sees it. ?! i couldn't tell if they were pretending or what!
grace is creeping me out though

Yes, that was a very creepy scene, thank goodness, coz I was getting pretty frustrated by then with the lack of anything happening.
John is driving me nuts! i hate that he pretty much decided that they would move to the farm and take over w/o talking about it with Kat!
i'm veering on 4 stars, but i wanna read some reviews and think about what i read. it was a good reading experience and i like his writing style a lot. i think i liked his other book better, i think there was more of a payoff in the story. but maybe i gotta dig deeper into the text, so i'm hoping the reviews illuminate some things lol
ohh in my googling i found this: https://www.screendaily.com/news/the-...what do you think about it being adapted?

Being tv it'll probably answer more questions rather than leave it open to interpretation.
I've still got The Loney on my TBR, is it better than this and worth a read? This just wasn't spooky enough for me.
I think I liked the Loney more. i really liked this one, but I think I connected more with The Loney. it moved slow too but i remember being more creeped out by it.yeah i'm hoping the tv series won't be as ambiguous, definitely interested to see how they adapt it!!!
I still need to write my review lol, i will do that soon
