Nay (4ukcats) Tessa--sorry for what y'all are going through out there. I have a friend in L.A. who's been sending me pics. It's just awful!

Melinda--I really enjoyed Bloodstained Beauty by Ella Fields. I've been in a reading slump and I zoomed right through it.

I'm in chapter 5 of the Peer and the Puppet, but it hasn't grabbed me. I'm going to give it a couple more chapters...

What dark buddy read???

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments 3, maybe 3.5 stars for me on Prisoned by Marni Mann

I think it's a "me" thing and I'm burned out on this trope for the moment. It all just seems so predictable - just change the names!!

No Lisa, I actually gave it only a 3 star rating.....but what makes it, is the next book Animal (Animal, #1) by Marni Mann

That really f's with your mind!! Please read it!!

Hey Jean, so it's better to read Prisoned before Animal? I have animal on my tbr....

message 163: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments Yes, yes yes. Prisoned should be read before Animal!!!! Animal wil blow your mind!!!!

message 164: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments I read Animal first. Figures I would get them out of order, lol

message 165: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) What's with that cover image on Prisoned??? Is it just me, or is that *thumb* made to look more like a (kinda thin) *ahem* some other body part? LOL. Just click on the image in Lisa's post and tell me you don't see it too.

Leslie | 2430 comments Jan, you are hilarious and correct. It looks funny.

Nay (4ukcats) Jan, I think your mind is just in the gutter--I see ALL thumb! 😉

Well, I know a bunch of people loved this one, so I'm just going to come out and say this: I'm DNFing Mafia and his Angel with no rating. The writing just isn't for me. I think there's too much telling for my liking--while one character is narrating, I'm seeing the other character standing there and doing nothing, waiting for the narrator to finish so that the action can moved forward. And I just can't shake it.

There's one review that I'll never forget seeing. I think it was Amy's for A Love Letter to Whiskey (a book I LOVED) that said there was too much telling and not enough showing for her liking. At the time, I couldn't relate but was thrilled that I hadn't noticed it. The book grabbed me from the beginning and it could have had many errors and I still would have loved it. Well now, I can relate to Amy--that's how this book resonated with me. So although I'm sure the story line is awesome, if I'm getting frustrated, there's no way I can put that out of my head. But at least it's another off my tbr! I'm sorry my obsessive, picky mind wouldn't let up, Tessa, but thanks for picking it for me!

Donna B (donnajo11) Prisoned was my first dark read 😱

Jan (jan130) It's just pretending to be a thumb.

So, so funny Jan. and it so does look like that body part. Hilarious.
I needed a good laugh today.
