But even Maia had platonic and familial love for Acheron, and yet she wasn't able to resist once she reached puberty.

Xerxes doesn't make a move on Acheron, even though he doesn't love him. So you don't have to love the person to resist the curse.

Ryssa doesn't try to make a move on Styxx, which could be explained with "she hates him too much for that." Yet the scold hated Styxx as much as Ryssa and yet he still raped him.

So even hating someone and being repulsed by them, doesn't automatically give you resistance to the curse.

Even being normally heterosexual doesn't give you resistance to the curse.

Even having familial love for the person doesn't give resistance to the curse.

So how does it work? What decides who has the willpower to resist and who doesn't? Is there any logic to it?

Is it possible that there is no logic to it, that some people just naturally have more willpower than others?
