I started this book ages ago, and actually finished it a couple of weeks ago, I'm very behind on my reviews. JoLene was always a person who would give me road trip audio book recommendations (for my car rides with mom), and I kept thinking when I was done with this book I would recommend it to her. I was almost finished with it when she passed, so though it had nothing to do with JoLene in any way, this book still makes me think of her.

When it comes to fantasy, I've read a lot of it so it takes a lot to impress me, and this book really impressed me. I found it to be very original and loved the weaving of dreams into this story in a way that you didn't roll your eyes and go... oh, yeah, a dream.

This is not a full tale - there is a sequel which has just come out, so don't go into this expecting to get the whole story.

I found this book when trying to find a good audio for a road trip (see above) - Audible had noted it as one of their favorites of the year. Audio was pretty good at times the narrator was great, and at times he bugged me.

Definitely recommended, an entertaining fantasy.

JoLene loved this book and recommended it over and over again. It’s on my TBR because of her. It’s one of the books I would personally pick to honor her, separate from the official Challenge. She would have loved that you thought of her.

No, I think the audio is fine. The narrator bugged me a bit, my mom loved him.

I have read Daughter of Smoke & Bone and I thought it was excellent.

Saving this one to fit a challenge. I have the feeling I would adore it too, but I can’t imagine myself otherwise picking it up and less it was perfect to fit a tag.

This book has passed through the library a few times, but the cover description makes it sound a lot less interesting than the Goodreads summary. I am going to check this one out, the first few pages read so lovely.

I adored this book, and I did listen to it on audio on a summer road trip in California. I was completely captivated! 5* for me.

And I just finished the sequel and another 5* for me!

I love the world-building, the characters, the mythological feel, the romance(minor), LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, everything about this series :)
