Welcome to the readathon Emma! Sometimes it's nice to pick up a traditional print book. I read mostly on the iPad now because its so convenient, but I like having a pile of real books for the readathon. Happy reading!
Looks like you have some great plans set in place. I never manage to get much planning done ahead of time. Wishing a wonderful readathon!

Oh nooo! :( I'm taking a half day today from work so I can prep snacks, clean, finish books I'm currently reading, maybe watch a couple DVRed things. And then go to bed early!
I'm a huge idiot! I was just making a coffee and getting ready to start readathon when it occurred to me that Australia is ahead of the US and it actually starts at 10pm tomorrow, not 10pm tonight!Luckily I didn't drink the coffee! I can have a decent sleep tonight and be better rested for tomorrow night!

Opening Survey1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today? Cairns, Australia
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to? Continuing with 'Outlander'
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to? Crackers with Camembert and basil pesto
4) Tell us a little something about yourself! I'm a nurse. I read during my lunch breaks at work, but not as much as I'd like to at home
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to? Spend less time on social media and read more

Loooove the Outlander series! Books and show! Reading more than socializing online is always something I want to do but it's also so fun to check in on everyone! That's why I decided on 4-hour reading blocks then listening to audio while checking it. Which I am breaking right now by being on GR. lol!

I love them too. I've listened to the whole series on audiobook. Now am really enjoying reading them on paper
Mmmm, now I want camembert... I feel you on the social media part, trying to limit myself to ten minutes or so each hour!
Emma wrote: "I just slept for a couple of hours from 3am - 5am. Time for a coffee and a good book!"
Good morning then! Have a profitable time
Good morning then! Have a profitable time
Emma wrote: "I just slept for a couple of hours from 3am - 5am. Time for a coffee and a good book!"Only 2 hours, how do you do it?! The least sleep I've gotten is 4-ish. Ever. lol.

I'm doing small power naps throughout the day. I'm up to 3 hours now
Mid-Event Survey:1. What are you reading right now? Outlander
2. How many books have you read so far? I've read bits of 5 books, only finished 1 (that I already had on the go before readathon started)
3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon? Continuing with Outlander
4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those? My only interruptions have been from social media, which is entirely my own fault!
5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far? How tired I am. I've slept for 3 hours so far. I thought that I would be able to go right through because I'm a shift worker and my body is used to night shift
A shower is a great idea! I am going to do that now. I want to wait and do it later, but my family will be sleeping and my husband has to work tomorrow.
An excellent idea Emma, I've just got up and had a coffee but a shower will prepare me for the next sprint. Thanks!Enjoy the last few hours. :)
You're doing awesome! I'm in awe of your lack of sleep - I just had a full night and still feel groggy...
Coffee time! I am making an exception to the 'No caffeine after lunch' rule to get me through the last two hours. RaT finishes at 10pm here
Closing surveyWhat hour was most daunting? Hour 6 (3am here)
Tell us ALLLLL the books you read! I finished 'Carrie' (Stephen King) and 'Throne of Glass' (Sarah J Maas), both of which I had started prior to RaT. I also progressed in 'Outlander' (Diana Gabaldon), 'Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married' (Marian Keyes), 'The Vampire Armand' (Anne Rice), and 'Uprooted' (Naomi Novik)
What was your favorite snack? Fresh-baked sausage rolls
What was your favorite facet of the day? The books! And the encouragement from the online community
Wanna volunteer for our next event? Maybe
