My mistake was starting with the one that had been on my shelf the longest: A History of London
All one thousand odd pages of history. I am only just approaching the 500 word mark. Also, I was unpacking my books for my new bookshelf, so I just had to read a couple of old favourites as they emerged.
I suppose I can look on the bright side and say that I do not expect any gifts of books to come my way for christmas, there is always a silver lining... ;)
