*SPOILER ALERT* I think that the two most important scenes in To All The Boys I Loved Before, by Jenny Han are: 1) when Margot helped Lara Jean with her hot tub video problem, and 2) when Kitty sent out Lara Jean’s letters. In the first scene, a video of Lara Jean Covey and Peter Kasinky making out spread around the school, and someone started a rumor that it was actually just a snippet of them having sex. The goal of posting the video was to ruin Lara Jean’s reputation. Lara Jean got mad at Peter for neglecting the situation and not even defending her. As soon as this happened, Lara Jean rushed to Margot to seek some advice. When you're in trouble, of course the first person you call is your family, especially your siblings. Your brother or sister is your number one confidant, and you know they will do everything in their power to make you feel better and set things right, Margot exactly did that. Margot emailed social media headquarters, and gave Lara Jean some advice, and everything turned out to be fine. The other scene was when Kitty sent out Lara Jean’s letters. This is basically how the whole story started. It’s the whole reason why Peter and Lara Jean got together, and how she rekindled with Josh Sanders. It was super frustrating, risky, and scary at first, but in the end everything turned out okay. Kitty did it for two reasons: she was mad at Lara Jean at the time, but she also wanted to help Lara Jean express herself since she is super shy and never does anything for herself. At the end of the day, you always know what's best for your sister, so you may just be proactive and help her out. Kitty knew this, and that's why she sent out the letters. Sure, it may have caused some drama, but it all worked out in the end. These scenes describe the overall theme of the book which is family, especially sisterhood. The book also talks about the importance of father-daughter relationships, but the story really centers on sisterhood and the relationship of the Song sisters. One of the key messages of the book is that your sisters are there for you no matter what. They are your best friends and your number one supporter in life.
