Team challenges can be great fun, and our members often tell us how they had a great time getting to know other members, adding books to their TBR, and reading much more than they expected.

But it is a TEAM challenge and every so often, some members let the team down by not responding to messages and checking into the thread. This means the captains and mods then need to try and reach out to the member to find out if they are still participating ; and this isn't fun for anyone.
For this reason, we have a yellow and red card system in place.

Yellow Cards
The mods will record a yellow card where a member needs to drop out of a challenge BUT they let their captain and/or mods know that they need to do this.
We understand real life gets in the way sometimes ; this is not a problem. But at least if you let us know then the team can get a replacement straight away and it doesn't impact on their challenge.
But if this becomes a pattern... 2 yellow cards... then we are not going to assign you to a team challenge for a while. You will need to contact us before signing up to let us know why the next time will be different.

Red Cards
Red cards are recorded by the mods when a member drops out of a challenge & doesn't tell us that they need to do so. Essentially the member "disappears" from the challenge.
Again, we understand real life gets in the way, but when this happens it is particularly hard on the team and takes time for the captains and mods to try and contact the member to check on what is happening.
When a member is assigned a red card, we won't assign them to a future challenge unless they contact us before signing up.
Two red cards and we won't assign that member to future team challenges.
