SOLVED. NA/Contemporary Romance book about a jock and a journalist. [s]

Hi, I read a book more than a year ago that I can't remember for the life of me and it's been driving me crazy! Some details about the book are a little fuzzy but here's what I remember (and beware, I'm pretty sure I'm going to be mixing in some things from a different book - I'm not sure! Told you, fuzzy):

1. It's NA/Contemporary Romance
2. It's a sports book. Can't remember what sport exactly but I think it was football?
3. The girl was sent to the guys' campus (I think?) to interview him for an article
4. There's this one scene I distinctly remember where the girl goes to visit him while he's practicing and meets a few of his friends (?? people, basically) in the bleachers
5. I'm not sure but I think she had a camera or was also a photographer (or at least someone else did/was)
6. Also not sure if this is from the same book but the girl and the guy went to play the sport at night at an abandoned field and there was something about red high heels and it started raining
7. There was a bar scene where the girl got incredibly drunk and the guy went in to the rescue and I think that led to them admitting their feelings?
8. Something with suitcases. The girl had a suitcase and was standing outside the guy's place?
9. The girl loses the 'interview' with the guy after she fails to submit updates/reports to her boss and someone goes to take over the piece

That's all I can gather right now but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE I hope someone can help me find this book!

Did an overnight search and stumbled upon Anatomy of a Player by Cindi Madsen. Premise is very similar to the said book except

1. I'm now fairly certain the sport wasn't hockey
2. There was no sort of bet involved and
3. The girl was sent to make a piece that tarnishes the jock's reputation specifically (which she couldn't follow through with, making her lose the interview to a coworker or boss)

Capucine, why did the girl's boss want her to write an interview that tarnishes the jock's reputation? Is she a sports writer for a newspaper or was this a one-time freelance job?

What's the tone - romantic, angsty, steamy/clean, funny? Love or hate at first sight?

Location - country, region, big city/small town?
