SOLVED: Adult Fiction > SOLVED. Novel that end with events at Masada. Maybe written in 1980s. Author last name starts with K or L.

Dawn (momdawn) | 6 comments The main character was a woman, maybe the wife or girlfriend of Bar Kokba. The book ends with Masada and then there was a sequel which followed one of the Masada survivors, a young girl (maybe a baby) that ends with the diaspora. I remember I saw it on the library shelf while getting a book by Karleen Koen, and it was close by, so the author's name had to end with K or L.

Dawn (momdawn) | 6 comments Thanks, Tammy, but no. It's older than The Dovekeepers. I read it first in around 1996.

Voices of Masada by David Kossoff?

One reviewer says "Views the events leading up to the suicide at Masada through the eyes of one of the survivors."

Erin Hodgson | 56 comments There is the Antagonist series Masada followed by The Triumph by Ernest K. Gann. I haven't read them, but it could be what you're looking for.

Thank you! The one I am looking for is If I Forget Thee by Brenda Lesley Segal. And it was her other book Aliya that caught my eye on the library shelf. I don't think I've read The Tenth Measure, but I'll pick it up.

Not this one, but this sounds like a good book. Thanks!

I don't see how "Segal" starts with a K or L, but I've seen Earl Stanley Gardner shelved in the S's, so whatever.

I'm sure it was in L as in Lesley-Segal. That happens all the time at the libraries I go to. Any time there is a hyphen or middle name I look on the shelves in both places.
