Kimberly (kimiftn) | 25 comments I read this book about 10 years ago. It is a romance, and I think it takes place in the 1800's, but not sure where.

The story is about the heroine who was horribly abused by her husband. The Hero takes her to his home (I can't remember why or how it happened). They arrive and he is putting the horse in the stable, and the heroine passes out because she thinks he is going to punish her (I think that's what happened). The hero carries her inside and realizes that she is ill and tries to nurse her back to health. He eventually finds out that she has scars on her back and has been abused. He thinks she is going to die, and for some reason marries her while she is unconscious. That is all I remember of the book, and even those details are a little fuzzy. I have been trying to remember what book this was for a long time. Thanks for any help!

Kimberly, what's the location - country, region?

What's the tone - romantic, angsty, steamy/clean, funny at times, etc.?

Kimberly (kimiftn) | 25 comments Kris, I’m not certain of the location. I think it may have been England, and most of the book takes place at a residence in the country, not in a city. It was definitely a romance, maybe somewhat angsty, not sure exactly what you mean by that. If I were to give it a steamy rating (with 10 being very steamy, and 1 being completely clean) I would probably give it a 6 or 7 if I remember correctly.

Thanks,
Kimberly

SamJ ★Needs a HEA★ | 155 comments Sounds like Night Fire

"Trapped into a loveless marriage, Arielle Leslie knew a life of shame and degregation. Even after the death of her brutal husband, she was unable to free herself from the shackles of humiliation. Only Burke Drummond's love could save her . . . if she let it. But as his passion blazed, his patience wore thin . . . and Arielle risked a future as terrifying as her past. "

ImaBookaddict | 161 comments I agree with SamJ, Night Fire (Night Trilogy #1) by Catherine Coulter is the book that came to my mind first as well.

Kimberly (kimiftn) | 25 comments Yes! I’m pretty sure that’s it. I’m going to find it and re-read to make sure, but it definitely sounds right. Thanks!
