Read the Preface and Chapter 1.

Rothstein describes the difference between "de facto" segregated and "de jure" segregated and how housing injustices fall into the latter term. Have you previously thought about the differences in segregation and how housing policy has influenced the past and continued segregation?

In Chapter 1, Rothstein discusses the imposed segregation that occurred in San Francisco as individuals were moving there. What factors do you think are present in Arizona and how can we work to change them?

The first step to addressing racial discrimination is awareness. Have you considered taking an implicit bias test? (https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit...). We recommend at least taking the test on race, but knowing where you have bias is the first step to overcoming it.

being a raised in the Bay Area, I was quite aware of the so call ghetto of East Palo and predominately black population in Richmond. I really don't understand the policy of why an area like the Bay area that didn't initially had segregated housing started doing it.
