Yearly theme 2019 suggestion thread

You know, I was looking through that thread, and it was definitely a suggestion that jumped out to me 😊 I was going to link it to revamp the ideas and then I forgot to do so!
I also really liked the Classics through the Ages theme, Kadijah proposed. And the diversity theme.. Let's face it, I liked all the ideas! :D

A personal challenge that I always have is to 'randomly' select a book from the local bookstore and so I like the idea of incorporating "Randomly Picked" into a side-project.

Like, a "Classics Around the World" theme (including translated literature) rather than a canonical "Classics" theme focusing on Anglophone literature.
Just my two cents.
I'm sure I'll love whatever is ultimately chosen. :D

Childhood Favorites, mythical creatures, fantasy genre, funny books etc. That kinda stuff? Idk. 😊

Focusing on color, cover art, illustrations, picture books, etc., but could extend the meaning to art/architecture/music mentioned in books, settings of books that have a lot of art culture, of course the art of the written word itself, and even the actual art of reading (when/where/how YOU read).
Lots of ways to interpret it to get a good year's worth of challenges.

I like this idea. It would be fun to sample genres that I don't usually try.

Actually, I'm still rather new here so I may be misunderstanding the topic.

We will also have a new theme for each month next year, this thread is for a general yearly theme :)

I love the "Neverland" idea! With that theme, I could basically read all the unread books on my bookcase then. LOL

Read a book that takes place in every US State. Or has the name of a State in the title.
This could tie into "books around the world" really well. Or be a separate thing.

I really love this idea of a "Bibliophilia" theme!
Besides the challenges that Kirstin already mentioned, I could also imagine shorter-term challenges about fictional bibliophiles, libraries & bookshops, mystery novels featuring a book, and so forth.

How about Folks in Uniform
I could imagine two possibilities:
- the traditional understanding to go more in depth in the serving professions and their areas
- using the uniform term very loosely to explore a bigger variety of job titles, areas...
You'll know better what makes more sense for the group and is easier to implement.

We have started to prepare for 2019 and we would like to have a yearly theme. And for that we need your help! Throw in your thoughts in this thread. Maybe you have a theme in mind that you would like to see? Let us know!
Some examples of themes could be: Literary Awards, Inventions that Changed the World of Books, Books Around the World.. The sky is the limit! Feel free to support one of these ideas or suggest your own!
We have also set up a poll for the next years yearly challenges. Vote for your favourite challenge!
