Angela Willa, Rosemary’s sister, helps her to get ready for the dinner she is to attend with Peter. As she is waiting to be notified of the carriage’s arrival, she begins to investigate the cottage. In one of the bedrooms, she finds a book written by Branock Hollow....given the secrecy to Peter’s writing, I find myself wondering if this Branock fellow is a pen name used by Peter. As Peter greets her as they get ready to leave, we get some insights into Rosemary’s thoughts about her way of life. It shows how she justifies her thieving as okay because she doesn’t do it to get rich or hurt anyone, but as a means of survival. She was left alone at such a young age and wasn’t given a proper upbringing that would teach her valuable skills that would provide better living conditions. Upon arrival to the Penrose estate, Rosemary seems taken aback by the warm reception received from Gryff’s wife, Jenny. I think she was expecting to be treated as an outsider, and was very suprised at the friendliness she encountered. I’m starting to see a lot of misperceptions Rosemary has had about people she refers to as “born with silver spoons.” She seems surprised by the warmth expressed by Jenny, as I think she was expecting someone very calculated and self interested. I’m anxious to see how their relationship will come about, as I see a lot of potential for emotional growth for Rosemary.
