Another Walking Dead fan here Lauri! Love it, not the zombies so much but how different people react to the situation. Apparently this is Andrew Lincoln's last season.. I cannot even comprehend the show without Rick Grimes... Although I only watched one season of Fear the Walking Dead. Just couldn't get into it.

And Firefly, so ripped off that it was cancelled after a couple of seasons. That show had so much potential. Loved Dollhouse also.

Basically find one of your top strengths, and then use it in a different way each day for a week. It has been shown in repeated studies across multiple countries to increase your happiness and well-being. And who doesn't want that? ;)

Question for today

Today was my final exam for this term. Hooray! And seeing so many of us also had "love as learning" as one of our highest character strengths, I thought I would ask:

What is something you have learnt recently?

I've learnt more about worm farming. I've dabbled for a while, but I finally did some research and got some new worms and compost products and I am cultivating my baby worms with glee. Hopefully in a few weeks they will be eating around 1kg a week of food scraps... and then in a few months apparently their capacity will be around 3kg per week :o

I've been interested in composting and worm farming as well but I just can't deal with worms. They gross me out even though they're vital to gardens.


Recently, I would say that an important thing that I've learn is how to request an early release for superannuation (in Australia). I know it's not interesting but I learnt about it at work (medical reception) and I think it's a handy life skill to have.

But, I'm learning new things everyday about the 10 plants that I have growing in my backyard. I provided our mint plant with a big pot to grow in and it looks so good now! It was struggling before. I'll try to use them in herbal or fruit tea or in smoothies

haha. yes they are kind of icky and wriggly, but for some odd reason I quite like them. Maybe because they are just so clever and useful. And they never come in the house (unlike ants, cockroaches... and at our place... skinks!)

Oh that is a cool life skill. I got a financial planner a few years ago as I decided it was time to be a grown up and understand that stuff a bit more. teehee

Mint does grow and grow and grow. You will need to really chop it back, and even divide it up as it gets bigger. That stuff doesn't stop! We have regular mint and also native mint. The native stuff has nice purple flowers and is quite pretty and more subtle in flavour.

I have just (literally last week) qualified as a clinical supervisor for Functional Family Therapy (aka FFT, an evidence-based family therapy program from the USA and used by over 350 teams across the world). It took me 2 years to get there and I am the only one in Australia.

I've been studying electric fields and forces the past few days for a test. (Although I think I still flunked it...) Made my head spin from all the integration and formulas.

I am doing Popsugar. I ride the T every morning to school and have been collecting book sightings. Lots of classics: The Grapes of Wrath, The Picture of Dorian Gray, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. Also, Little Fires Everywhere Spinning Silver and The Word Is Murder.

Also, I suggest Murderbot so now you have an excuse to read it this year.

Question of the day-

What was one of the best books you have read so far this year?

I just checked and I've rated 9 with 5 stars this year which is unlike me so I must be getting more generous with ratings. lol.

Anyhow, there are a few great ones there, but I'm going to go with

because it was such an unexpected awesome book. So different from many other books of it's time, Margaret and Helen are independent and outspoken, and quite liberal in their thoughts.
I also went ahead and watched the BBC TV version and loved it

Last year this would have been easy - as soon as I read I knew it would be my book of the year.

This year? Possibly . It was sweet and kind of resonated with me.
I finished a couple really good fantasy series this year as well. One series I read all the way through this year was "The Faithful and the Fallen." Very epic fantasy - tons of characters (which made it hard to get into at the start), lots of death, action, and politics.

And for sheer enjoyment (I listened to it - and its followup). They are zombie apocalypse books basically, but SO fun. The third just came out, but I kind of want to wait for the audio version.

Each year, I have a 5 star shelf.. and this year I already have 18 books shelved there which must be some kind of record because I'm usually not so generous. My total count of books read is around 160.

Out of those this is my No 1, the second half was amazing. I've also enjoyed reading Karin Slaughter's Will Trent series although heavy on the murders/police procedurals it's the character interaction and how she has written the major character Will Trent that I really love.
