Yes you can Lisa. You don’t need to finish it and do all the questions in the same week 😉

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6397 comments Oh great. I'm enjoying it and looking forward to the discussion questions.

Tina ❣ (nutrinut) | 2000 comments It might still be a bit early, but is there any need to read for a specific letter yet? Or is it too early to tell?

message 654: by Karen ⊰✿, Fiction Aficionado (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 16593 comments Mod
Still a bit early. We seem to be covering everything well - and being a small word it is a bit easier also I think!

message 655: by Tina ❣ (new)

Tina ❣ (nutrinut) | 2000 comments Okie dokies. Thanks Karen!

That's true. Small words definitely are easier :P

The Cabin at the End of the World
Paul Tremblay
400 pages
finished:11/16/2018
Works for T (author) E & A (characters)

message 657: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments I think it is fine to finish this week and finish the questions next week, especially if you do some of the questions this week as well.

message 658: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments Our word for next week is:
BROWN

(Note: I saw that least some Dan Brown books have the genre "brown". Go figure.)

message 659: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 4247 comments How is Brown a genre?

message 660: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments Good question.. Anyway - for the "Genre" points it has to be tagged "brown" either on the main page or on the first page of top shelves. But yeah, I wouldn't call it a genre either.

I can do the genre one if nobody else has a book they are wanting to read for that. I'm also ok not doing it :)

message 661: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments Oh and for "brown" on cover - we look for a brown colored cover - we can check them with the tin-eye app to be sure they are brown enough.

message 662: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 4247 comments I thought it had to be MPG. There are no MPG brown, I looked but there are lots of first page genre brown so that is much easier.

message 663: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 4247 comments You could read Dan Brown, Sandra Brown or Rita Mae Brown.

message 664: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments Yes, they (thank goodness) opened it up to allowing it to be on the first page of top shelves - phew.

Pierce Brown may be on there as well. But I haven't looked :)

message 665: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 4247 comments I can read brown in title - Brown Girl in the Ring.

I just looked and oddly enough, no one use Brown as a tag with him.

message 667: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments Is the colour cover over 50% or more than that?

message 668: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments It's 50% or more for the cover colour.

message 669: by Lisa - (Aussie Girl) (last edited Nov 15, 2018 02:22PM) (new)

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6397 comments I've got a Sandra Brown - Seeing Red by Sandra Brown that I'm reading next week in a buddy read. How serendipitous is that!

I just checked - it's tagged top shelves Brown-Sandra and Sandra-Brown so I'm not sure if that will count . Nothing just Brown.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6397 comments Can someone check this one for me for brown cover Her Majesty's Will by David Blixt

message 671: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 4247 comments I am pretty sure it has to be just Brown but will let someone else have a say. Also, Tin Eye is reading your book as a black background so 56% black.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6397 comments Wow, struck out twice, LOL. Thanks Lexi for checking.

message 673: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments I'm pretty sure it has to be just Brown as well. Darn, so close.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6397 comments How about this one for brown cover Don't Tell (Romantic Suspense, #1; Chicago, #1) by Karen Rose ?

message 675: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 4247 comments 43% Brown and 44% Black and 9% red.

message 676: by Lexi (last edited Nov 15, 2018 03:02PM) (new)

Lexi | 4247 comments I can read this one - Vessel by Sarah Beth Durst (60% brown) if no one else has one but I am unsure how much I will be able to read next week with the Holidays.

message 677: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments I'll try to look too when I can. My internet is down. So annoying

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6397 comments Darn. Okay, this is my last attempt, Alliance (Red Star, #1) by Catherine Johnson LOL - Brown, yay or nay...

message 679: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments Dang I tested and then met crashed again. I'm pretty sure that would work. Its 43% chocolate brown and 40% seal brown (black). And I think 10 out of 10 people would look at that cover and say its brown. Karen would know for sure though.

I’m on my app so hard to say, but I’ll take the covers to the captains group when I’m next on a computer.
We only use tineye as a bit of a guide (it is not always accurate), so the captains can overrule it if we have some other captains agree to the cover

message 681: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments Yeah that last one, especially enlarged, really looks brown. It's so hard to see those tiny things on the app :) I had a brief 5 min of internet before it went out again, and on my actual computer it looks brown :)

I can read Cat of the Century (Mrs. Murphy, #18) by Rita Mae Brown which has 4 tags of "brown" on the first page.
It is book 18 in the series and I've never read any of them, but I'm sure it will be fun. LOL. For some random reason I have it on my kindle. Someone must have sent it to me

I do read that series and I'm on Whisker of Evil which also works for W if you don't want to read a random cat & dog person cozy mystery. :)

Oh perfect, thanks! It does look interesting, but I prefer to start series from the start :)
I'll put you down for brown genre!

Yay, finally success. Yes, I'll read it next week. I will only be able to read three books next week as we have our youngest Grandson's Baptism at the end of the week we have to travel to then a family weekend.

I keep hearing good things. But... tbh...I wasn't really wowed by her "The Nightingale" which everyone else raved about so I'll a little gun shy. Have you read other things by her?

No problem. I have trouble reading series out of order too. If I read the first 2-3 at least, then I don't mind as much. But starting at #18 might not be as enjoyable. :D
