haha!! Love it! I am less interested in those, I love the forensic stuff. I even wanted to be a pathologist for a while. Give me blood and guts any time! LOL
I have watched many a doco on the body farms at the University of Tennessee and in our own backyard (NSW).

The Colour of Magic
Terry Pratchett
285 pages
Works for:
Word in text (page 69 - "Morpork was already a cauldron of flame".
C - title (Colour)
A - Ankh (location in book)
L - Luggage (character)
D - Death (character)
R - Rincewind (character)
N - Ninereeds (character)

It has "Wizards" as a genre, but it has to be witch not wizard, right?

Update

We have completed 2 read throughs of CAULDRON and have now started our third! Great work!
I haven't added any to the main spreadsheet yet as it is a longer word this week so a bit trickier. It is more convenient at the moment to keep it on the tracking sheet and move things around as needed

message 508: by Chava (new)

Chava | 1522 comments Found another U book Uncoupling: How to survive and thrive after breakup and divorce. It's a 6 hour audiobook, so I should be able to plow through that on my way to and from work tomorrow :)

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Who's gonna be reading Diamond of Fire (Ilona Andrews)? ❤

message 510: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments I will be for sure! Although probably not this week :) I like that series, except I don't love the covers.

message 511: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments Dead Over Heels on spreadsheet. Works for CALDR. Halfway through Crazy Rich Asians - lots of characters. :) I'll go answer some questions when I finish tonight.

message 512: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments Awesome Allison Ann - thanks!

I was planning on reading Crazy Rich Asians and had downloaded the audio with Scribd, and then when I downloaded a different audio, it made Crazy Rich not available til 11/14. Sigh.... There are 101 people on the library waiting list, and it's pretty expensive to buy, so I'll just wait til the 14th.

message 513: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments Audio for Crazy Rich Asians will be interesting I'm sure. The footnotes in the book are super annoying. If they are read out loud, I can only imagine what that would be like. You can figure out the majority by context, I really don't need definitions for "Oh gosh" in Cantonese. :)

message 514: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments I'll let you know if they read the footnotes. Lol that could indeed be interesting.

message 515: by M (new)

M Beal | 1680 comments So it looks like I will be able to read more for the challenge. My ankle is officially broken. Off my feet for the next few weeks with nothing but the internet, books, and a cat to keep me company. Sigh.

Oh no, M. So sorry to hear that! On the plus side you have this great challenge to read for 😉

Suzanne - I tried the audiobook a few months back and I really didn’t like it. The voices super irritated me. But I also live in an area that has tons of similar people so maybe it was just too close to home and had no novelty value for me. I just felt like I was reading about by neighbours and so gave up 😂
I do have friends in my book club that enjoyed it, but they read the paperback versions

message 517: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments Oh I'm so sorry M - that must be super painful! I hope you heal as quickly as possible!

Allison Ann | 1408 comments M - Hope you heal up soon.

Finished Crazy Rich Asians (Crazy Rich Asians, #1) by Kevin Kwan and added to spreadsheet. Works for CALDRON. I'll post a link when I get around to answering the DQs.

Another 60 pointer up next - The Beautiful Mystery (Chief Inspector Armand Gamache, #8) by Louise Penny . Three letters to start but we'll see who shows up from the village (come on Ruth and Olivier). :D

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Diamond Fire is 160 pp. It works for Wheelathon, right? I'm trying to not start it because i know id want to read it in one sitting and i cant afford to slack of til the weekend 😭

I finished
Poppy Done to Death (Aurora Teagarden, #8) by Charlaine Harris
This series gets better with every book. I loved this one so much - even a little tear at the end ;)
Worst part is that I only have 2 books left in the series :(

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments I just looked at the nominees for GR awards. Some I couldnt help thinking "really, it got in for semis?"

and then I want to read a hoard of books nominated in the fantasy genre. TIME where art thou!!! lol

Well, dear, when you finish up with Roe you can move over to her new Gunnie Rose series! It's a total departure, but still a smartass female heroine we can love! What an imagination she possesses! Loving it thus far....🤓

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo

Will this be ok for Wheelathon? It's poetry, but it's a novel?

With the GR choice awards I initially thought I just hadn’t read many new releases. But I’ve since seen a number of comments that others feel the same way. I wonder if they went with publisher “recommendations” this year to determine the short list?

That makes sense, actually. I also think that I might have read new releases that won't be out in the US until next year. GR is still very American based vs anywhere else in the world

Lexi | 4247 comments Kathleen wrote: "The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo

From the rules: "Books must be more than 160 pages in length. Children's books, Graphic Novels, Scriptplays (movie and theater), Cookbooks and Poetry books cannot be used unless by word count they can be verified (by arbookfind.com) as more than 40,000 words. If not on arbookfind, check audible for an audio version of longer than 4 hours for the book to be valid."

The poet X is 33,000 words so it is too short (http://www.arbookfind.com/bookdetail....).

Well done!

I am still reading my Cauldron on the cover book, but I promise everyone I will get it done by the deadline!

message 545: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 4247 comments I haven't started my two but I should still be good as life should calm down after tomorrow. I will read genre Witches first because I think I saw that someone had a text Cauldron go by already but I should be good for both.
