Yes he has quite the system going on. From what I understand he just writes a story outline and the "co-author" does the rest. But that may have just been a crabby critic that wrote that ;)

Not surprised. I read one he coauthored with an Aussie author. She now writes her own books. I guess it's a good way into a big market before they write their own

And thanks Karen! I suspect as much as I hated that book, it was still better than the one your library had that would have worked.

My test grading has been slower than I liked, so I didn't get as much reading done as I wanted. But I did start listening to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - I got through 8 hours of it today. I have never done it with audio before, but it is working well, and I love that magical world. I'd forgotten about all the little throwaway references - like the regurgitating toilets :)

Finished my first two books for CAULDRON. The Book of Three has cauldron in the text, but I think someone is already reading for that. And of course The Black Cauldron has cauldron in the title. :) They don't work for many letters unfortunately.

I have one more short book to read for another team challenge and then I will start a few longer options. Seems like my longer books don't work very well for our letters. Should have had JACKOLANTERN or TRICKORTREAT. :) But I have a few 500 page ones that I will get to. And the BOM is over 500 pages, so that's good for a few points.

I have the Jim Dale one (it's just from my Library). I've heard Stephen Fry is excellent, but I haven't found easy access to those yet ;) Maybe the next re-read.

Question:
I am listening to an audiobook in Dutch, but the edition listed on GR as main edition is an English paperback. The problem is that the spelling of the main character is with a C in Dutch and with a K in the English edition. (This is likely because the Dutch word is a offensive word in English, but means cook in Dutch). Do I use the C or the K? The book in question (Dutch version) is De Cock en de dode harlekijn or English version Dekok and the Dead Harlequin

When listening/reading in another language, you can use the spelling as per the language that you are listening/reading. (Gets confusing doesn’t it!) 😂

We have something sort of like that in my language. Same word but different meanings. In the national language it's a nipple, but in a local dialect it pertains to a vegetable. So imagine those people not speaking that local dialect going to that province and hearing people throw that word around casually.

It all depends on page length. Our min page length for this challenge is 160, so if your novella is longer than that, it counts :)

I saw that. Murderbot is one of the series that I have been convincing random people to read this year. I love all of them with the second being my favorite.

that book got me reading her books. I loved it. I started Pieces of her, but had to return it to the library and got distracted with another book. I read The good daughter as well and I liked that ok.

If it werent BOM that time and wasnt for challenge points i wouldnt have sat through it. It wasnt my kind of read. It was the kind that wouldnt let me sleep soundly at night and i love my sleep too much haha. A lot of GR friends love her though! I also dont read horror.

Same here Kathleen. That book was so disturbing. I'm not good with horror or any kind of suspense that has graphic violence. I can see why she is popular for people that like that genre though.

I listened to it as an audiobook and actually drove the long way home so I could get further in the book. I love good gore lol

I have just started reading thrillers and the forensics are my least favourite part. Too much information! But I have a serious reading crush on her lead character Will Trent.. sigh. And the intertwining relationships which are slowly revealed with each book are so fascinating it makes me keep reading despite the grizzly bits.
