wow. That's intriguing. Is he actually writing it, or does he have a bunch of collaborators?

Yes he has quite the system going on. From what I understand he just writes a story outline and the "co-author" does the rest. But that may have just been a crabby critic that wrote that ;)

And thanks Karen! I suspect as much as I hated that book, it was still better than the one your library had that would have worked.
My test grading has been slower than I liked, so I didn't get as much reading done as I wanted. But I did start listening to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - I got through 8 hours of it today. I have never done it with audio before, but it is working well, and I love that magical world. I'd forgotten about all the little throwaway references - like the regurgitating toilets :)
Which audio do you have Suzanne? I re-read them last year with Stephen Fry. He is such a great narrator. They are great to go back to with those little details!

I have one more short book to read for another team challenge and then I will start a few longer options. Seems like my longer books don't work very well for our letters. Should have had JACKOLANTERN or TRICKORTREAT. :) But I have a few 500 page ones that I will get to. And the BOM is over 500 pages, so that's good for a few points.

I have the Jim Dale one (it's just from my Library). I've heard Stephen Fry is excellent, but I haven't found easy access to those yet ;) Maybe the next re-read.

I am listening to an audiobook in Dutch, but the edition listed on GR as main edition is an English paperback. The problem is that the spelling of the main character is with a C in Dutch and with a K in the English edition. (This is likely because the Dutch word is a offensive word in English, but means cook in Dutch). Do I use the C or the K? The book in question (Dutch version) is De Cock en de dode harlekijn or English version Dekok and the Dead Harlequin
Thanks
When listening/reading in another language, you can use the spelling as per the language that you are listening/reading. (Gets confusing doesn’t it!) 😂

Karen, I'll go with the Dutch spelling so we can use it for the C. Although, there are several characters who will work too.

I ended up not reading any of the books I had planned."
My absolute favorite series!! Did you enjoy it? Now that I am caught up to #24, I o..."
Yep. Looks like I have another series to read

De Cock en de dode harlekijn
A.C. Baantjer
160 pages
Works for:
C - De Cock (De is The in Dutch) as both character and title
A - Annie (character) & Amsterdam (one of the 2 cities where this story takes place)
U - Utrecht (one of the 2 cities this story takes place)
L - Lowietje (character)
D - Dikke Toon (character) & Mrs van Duuren (character)
R - Dr Rusteloos (character)
N - Nachtwaker Peters (character)
Edited to include another letter that I had forgotten

LOL. Like I said, that c word means cook or chef in Dutch. They later changed the spelling as to not cause offense in English speaking countries. It's pronounced the same as the offensive word though... LOL

Why are U so hard? ;)

So many green jokes to crack with that one.
We have something sort of like that in my language. Same word but different meanings. In the national language it's a nipple, but in a local dialect it pertains to a vegetable. So imagine those people not speaking that local dialect going to that province and hearing people throw that word around casually.

Well, and Cauldron is a longer word - we won't need as many U's - thank goodness! :)

thank you! so can I mix two or more novellas until I have 160+ pages?

Did you see that Wells is planning a full-length novel too now?! For publication in toooooooo long away, but still exciting!

I saw that. Murderbot is one of the series that I have been convincing random people to read this year. I love all of them with the second being my favorite.

My next up book is a U title -

If we read the same number of books this week as last week, we will need 6 x U and we have 5 on the tracking spreadsheet. So I'll have a look and see if I can grab a U or two as well

that book got me reading her books. I loved it. I started Pieces of her, but had to return it to the library and got distracted with another book. I read The good daughter as well and I liked that ok.

Kathleen wrote: "If it werent BOM that time and wasnt for challenge points i wouldnt have sat through it. It wasnt my kind of read. It was the kind that wouldnt let me sleep soundly at night and i love my sleep too..."
haha
Same here Kathleen. That book was so disturbing. I'm not good with horror or any kind of suspense that has graphic violence. I can see why she is popular for people that like that genre though.

I listened to it as an audiobook and actually drove the long way home so I could get further in the book. I love good gore lol
I finished
for my cleaning out the closet challenge and it was great. Such fun!
No U's unfortunately, but hopefully my next book
