MargieD2017 | 331 comments I really wanted to like this book since I was intrigued by the premise, however, I found it bordering on the ridiculous. That all 5 of these monstrous women (Mary Jeykll, Diana Hyde, Justin Frankenstein, Beatrice Rappaccini, Catherine Moreau) would find each other and then throw in Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson as well was truly reaching. I found myself laughing at the absurdity of it all instead of being enthralled with character and story. I think the author didn't do a very good job at building any of the characters. The story was loosely built around the stories of these women's past and then pulled along by the continued workings of one of the immoral and insanely driven scientists who created one of these 'beast women' or is it two? Well, whatever, I no longer cared by the end of the novel. Perhaps I am being unfairly unkind here where others have found the book to be absolutely stunning. Personal preference I suppose. Read this one for yourselves to know where you would stand.
