When it looked like I was going to lead the discussion, I looked at the book, and it is (I think) something like 103 chapters.If we are going to have weekly threads, maybe we should aim for chapter-per-day 7 chapter threads. That would be about a 15 week schedule.
I am fine with starting Friday.
That sounds like a good timeline, Christopher. I have a mass market paperback brick, so at 1152 pages that would translate to roughly 75 pages per week.
Friday works for me, and approx 75 pages a week sounds perfect :)
I'm going to try to fit this read in, Stephenson can be a lot of fun. I just hope I can keep up, I'm usually overextended this time of year (well, any time of year).

I won't be able to start early. I am working on catching up on another chunkster, Nicholas Nickleby, for another group at the moment.
My copy is in at the library, and I will pick it up today :)

I'll still definitely join in - if they don't email me by the end of today to say they found it, I'll order one from Amazon and jump into the discussion by the end of next week. I was thinking I might have to buy it anyway, since somebody else might want the library copy during the 3 months and then I couldn't keep renewing it.
ETA: They just called ... they've found it! so I'll pick it up and start reading this weekend :)
I just saw you guys are starting this and I think my husband has a copy of this, I'd like to join in if I can find it!
I'll be traveling tomorrow so I'll have these chunks of time to get started. I'm excited to be joining in on this read with you all. My first with this group.
