I am enjoying this. But there are a *lot* of characters and it has taken me awhile to get what I think is all of the relationships right.

I've just started this and am really enjoying it. Taylor's style has become more assured, and these characters are very interesting.

I thought that, everybody seems to instantly confide in him but I found him rather odd. I guess we also get the benefit of Taylor's telling us his thoughts (which are not always very kind) while the characters have to take him at face value!

I like the way all the characters are being introduced, Trollope does that as well.

I’m enjoying this, although I am going to make a quick little map of the characters and who lives where to keep myself straight. The setting and variety of people feels different from her first two novels, but I’m loving this view of the little harbor town with its fishing boats, lighthouse, pub, and down-at-the-heels wax museum.

I just got started with this last night, made it to page 96. It is full of slightly quirky characters, I am finding it oddly fascinating. I’ve just finished a Rumer Godden Book, am reading a biography of Daphne du Maurier, & now this. I feel like my brain is back in our village home in England and am discombobulated when I awaken to California.
