Tanya | 36 comments Debbie, thanks for the suggestion!

Elizabeth, there's a cat and there are stories about other animals who come back from the dead, but they're not really the focus of the book. I thought it would be ALL about the animals, but they're really just there as a set-up for other stuff.

They aren't the focus, but would it be a different book without the animals? Sounds like they are important to moving the plot forward. In that case, the book would count, imho. Elizabeth said it would count, that's two of us and she's "the boss" of the challenge! (But stlll read Ivan.)

Tanya,

It's okay if they're not the focus, or if they're just their to set-up other plot things. That's fine. It still counts. :)

Everyone!
Just one more week.

Wow. A librarian just said "their" when she meant "there." Now I've seen everything! ;)

message 57: by Becky (new)

Becky | 280 comments I finished And the Ocean Was Our Sky, which is an upside-down telling of Moby Dick, sort of, but from the whale's perspective.

Odd. But that sounds kind of awesome.

It was more odd than awesome, to be honest. :)

Audrey (niceyackerman) | 674 comments I read several books with animals that I started in September and finished in October. The ones I read exclusively in October were
Followed by Frost (camels and dogs)
Next of Kin (dogs)
Miss Pickerell on the Moon (cats and farm animals)
The Marsh King’s Daughter (dogs, wildlife)

Carolyn | 182 comments Getting mine in at the last minute. I read The Old Man and the Sea by Hemingway, which has a big fish, some smaller fish, and a bunch of sharks.

message 64: by Donna (new)

Donna | 72 comments Yay...I finally read one with an animal.

Because of Winn-Dixie
