Glennie | 2 comments The Green Brain by Frank Herbert:
In the future, humans are working hard to eradicate insects from the face of the planet. But the insects have mutated and can now fight back with sentient brains that direct hordes of their scaly little minions by the million.
I liked it, although the treatment of the attractive woman entomologist was a bit sexist. But it came out in the 1960's so there's that.
The Hurricane Code : a blend of Science and Climate fiction, takes place in 2099 and global warming has given rise to gigantic hurricanes which force people to go north toward Canada. A page turner, and in this case both of the featured female characters are quite active in the plot. One codes quantum computers and the other steals a mule to escape the clutches of a man who is probably going to sell her as a slave.
The story also has a very entertaining A.I. character.

AndrewP (andrewca) | 365 comments I read The Green Brain way back in the day. That was when covers were done by real artists and the cover on the New English Library was very memorable.
The Green Brain by Frank Herbert
Bruce Pennington IIRC
