You discuss as you go along, but announce where you are (percentage/page number/chapter) first. Then, if it is something specific, enclose it in spoiler tags. That way the people that aren't at that point yet won't have anything ruined for them. When they get to that point, they can "click" on your spoiler and read it then. :)

No problem! That's what we're here for. :) Generally, the start date is officially the first, although members are able to jump in whenever they can--thus the use of spoiler tags, and letting others know how far you are in the book, so they don't accidentally read something they're not at yet.
Sometimes you're in the middle of another book, etc., and start "whenever". Some even begin early ;).

I hope I can join, got a lot on my to-read for October.
Unfortunately, I know the twist (or reveal) because I spoiled it via Wikipedia. I don't know why, I just like to read spoilers sometimes :(
To others that have read it - Will that ruin my experience if I know what happens?

I've read it several times, and enjoyed the journey each time. There's always some details your don't remember, and the characters themselves, of course.

Gianfranco, is that actually your house....?"
i'm wondering the same!!! LOL

Gianfranco, is that actually your house....?"
Ahah! Just joking. That's a pic I've found on internet... but if I don't stop buying lots of books every week my home is becoming like that sooner or later XD

I've never seen the movie!

There's a movie????!!!! Cool, how about an Oct 31 movie-a-thon?

My house is SOOOO close to looking like that

Technically, but you can really jump in and start anytime during the month--many can't get a copy on time, or are finishing up other reads/reviews. That's the reason we use spoiler tags with percentage or chapter marks, so that anyone not yet at that point in the book won't have a scene ruined for them, but when they DO get there, they can go back and click on the spoiler tags.

ugh, i hate it when a preface or introduction does that. i've started skipping those for that reason.

I finished the prologue too.

The prologue was definitely not included in the movie.

I've been noticing that in a lot of the re-issued copies with "forwards" lately. They give away too much that would be better left for the reader to discover when they get to that spot, naturally.

I started reading the prologue and quit because it seemed as if it was giving away to much and moved on to the story. Enjoying it so far. My work makes this all the more creepy/tense for me.

A pedo story??
I have not heard that, but I don't really know... I'll let the other readers speak to that.

No, it's not. :)
No, it's not. :)
Have fun, and remember to use spoiler tags when necessary!
