Beverly Akerman (beverly_akerman) | 14 comments "Oh captain, my captain." Sitting here with my son, talking about all the wonderful films Robin Williams made. They made his childhood...Mrs. Doubtfire, Aladdin, Dead Poets Society, Jumanjii, Hook, Patch Adams, Good Will Hunting, Good Morning Vietnam...a whole generation.

Eva Vanrell (evavanrell) | 30 comments "To quote from Whitman, 'O me! O life!... of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of the faithless... of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life?' Answer. That you are here - that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. That the powerful play *goes on* and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?" -John Keating, Dead Poets Society

Such terribly sad news.

Renee E There was The Day the Music Died.

Now there is The Day the Laughter Died.

Of all his acting roles, I loved The Fisher King best.

I remember that he got his start on the TV show, "Happy Days," when he appeared as Mork from Ork. Then he got his own show based on the same character, "Mork and Mindy." After that came the movies.

Brenda Knight | 218 comments No one could make me laugh harder or more readily than Robin Williams. I have and treasure most of his movies as well as some of his stand up. He brought so much joy and laughter. May he rest in peace. He will be very missed. Prayers to his family.

Clare O'Beara | 27 comments So sorry to hear of this. And shocked. Wouldn't we all think that he had a happy life and everything to live for?

message 11: by W.J. (new)

W.J. Lennox | 32 comments I was deeply saddened to hear that Robin Williams had taken his own life. A tragic loss to the world. One of the few people that could make me snort with laughter. I have fond memories of him in Mork and Mindy when I was little. A genuinely funny and irreplaceable actor.

I hope he finds peace amongst the stars. Na-nu Na-nu!

message 12: by Kay (new)

Kay | 12 comments I grew-up laughing and enjoying his jokes and his sense of humor. I think the first time I really saw his talent was when he did Comic Relief, w/ Billy Crystal and Whoopi Goldberg. Robin Williams talent was so out there, you couldn't help but laugh. I never seen him out of character so to speak. Maybe that was part depression. I will miss him a lot, My prayers go out to all his family, especially his kids.

Derek (milldee) | 4 comments A loss not just for a generation, but for the whole world - no one could improve quite like Robin and certainly nobody had so bright a smile.

These Violent Delights (Robin) NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Oh, I loved him! He was such a phenomenal comedian. I grew up watching some of his movies (Jumanji, Flubber, etc) and they just released the trailer for the new Night At The Museum movie..

P.S. Winn (goodreadscompswinn) | 87 comments It is so sad, his humor added so much to people's lives. What a great mind and artistic talent. The humor he added to the world is a commodity we all need. I'm sure where ever he is they are laughing.

message 17: by Alice (new)

Alice Sabo (alice_sabo) This made me very sad. Loved him as an actor. He was a genuinely funny man. And kudos to him for talking about his problems. I will miss him.

message 18: by Renee E (new)

Renee E The first time I ever heard him was on an audio tape of his "Reality, What a Concept" tour. I made a gross misjudgment and played it in the car.

Had to pull over, laughing, before I had a wreck.

Death of a Sperm Ballet.

Camille (camillefaye) | 14 comments I loved his rapid fire comedy...he was such a quick thinker and so clever. So sad to hear that he struggled with mental illness, but that really makes you realize the flipside of how a brilliant person's brain works.
